What is the Connor Meigs Art Award?
Through the Connor Meigs Art Award we hope to turn our family’s tragedy into a blessing for another young artist. The Connor Meigs Art Award gives to a talented young artist what was promised to Connor after his BFA graduation from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS. Connor passed away on Christmas Eve of his Sophomore year.

The Connor Meigs Art Award provides to other young artists a first solo exhibit at the historic Florence Mill’s ArtLoft Gallery as well as help with public relations/marketing, hanging the exhibit, an honorarium of $1,000 and private studio visits to selected professional artists. The nearby Fort Omaha campus of Metropolitan Community College sponsors residency to out-of-town recipients in a late-1800’s Officers Quarters 3-bedroom duplex.
It is more than an exhibit. It is an educational experience and launch of an art career.
How to apply for the Connor Meigs Art Award
The award is restricted to recent graduates—or those soon to graduate—with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree. Applicants should submit a resume, artist statement, and 10 images by mail to the Florence Mill ArtLoft (9102 N. 30th St., Omaha, NE 68112) or by email to florencemill@gmail.com. The application deadline is Oct. 1, 2019, for a 2020 exhibit.
